After a period spent in America, Adolf Loos returned to Vienna from Paris and London, where he was conquered by the practical spirit and the people elegant and slightly hedonistic ways. He almost seemed to be a new Beau Brummel who, attempting a parallel between architecture and tailoring, had incorporated dandyism into the modern conception of twentieth century architecture.
